Transactional Data Validations – Navision ERP
During many Navision ERP implementation projects, our team was responsible for validation and load of master data objects (customer, vendor, and materials) to a central repository (built with Mendix). Then, syndicated data into the corresponding Navision system. Prior to load, we performed data validation and cleansing to ensure that it meets all the global standards and business requirements.
Our Solutions to Navision ERP Implementation Challenges
The following task in Navision implementation projects was to build BODS jobs to export transactional data from source Legacy Systems (older Navision systems or Exact ERP), and prepare it for our partner to load during the go-live. We worked with objects like Inventory Balances, GL Balances, Open Items for ‘vendor’ and ‘customer’.
During the first projects, we ran into the issue of always missing master data in the new system, like material, vendor, or customer, which had Open Item or Stock in Legacy System on the day of the go-live.
To solve this problem and ensure all the needed data is migrated before the go-live, we
have developed a validation in DMW. First, it analyzes the latest inventory Balances and Open Items. Then, it compares the inventory with the Gather Files that the company prepared for the new system. This algorithm allowed us to find all the missing data at an early stage, and deliver it for data migration before the go-live.
We used DMW as a tool in the Navision implementation project to validate transactional data during a go-live. In one case, a business needed to map old locations, bins, and measurement units from an old system to a new one. Without validations, the process was very time-consuming and involved a lot of iterations to remove all kinds of errors. With the introduction of our DMW validations, we reduced the time needed for a go-live for transactional data load from three days to just one.
Key Benefits of Using Data Migration Workbench in Navision ERP Projects:
High-Quality Master Data Delivered on Time
Thanks to validations in place and comparison with open items and inventory balances.
Go-Live Duration and Risk Reduced
We drastically reduced the time needed to extract, map, validate and load inventory balances, GL balances, and open items. As a result, it led to smoother, faster, and more affordable go-lives.
Advanced and Convenient Reporting
The best way to get the most of your data is to have a great reporting system. The built-in DMW reports provide a clear view of the current processes and their progress.
Navision ERP Implementation Projects from SAPMD
We have extensive experience in Navision ERP implementation projects, delivering data migrations, data validations, and go-lives. This way, we enable a smooth transition and offer the benefits of reduced risk and costs. In our Data Migration Workbench, we have developed a variety of validations. They ensured that all master data required to run business operations during go-lives are delivered and cleansed on time.
